Anthrakitis is one of the 46 villages of Zagorochoria of Epirus, is located in East Zagori and belongs to the prefecture of Ioannina. Anthrakitis is built at an altitude of 730m. on the northeast side of mountain Mitsikeli. The village is built round and at the center is located the square with the plane tree. Around Square lie the houses of Anthrakitis. The village took its name from the great teacher of the Nation Methodius Anthrakitis. In today Anthrakitis area was originally the village Dryanovo and later the village Mesochori. During the Ottoman period these settlements were destroyed and then the village was named Kamnia. During the Second World War was burned by the Germans and then named Anthrakitis. In Anthrakitis at 2006 lived 26 residents. The main occupations are agriculture and livestock.
Anthrakitis is 50 km. away from Ioannina. From Thessaloniki you can cover a distance of 260 km.through Egnatia Road and arrive in Ioannina, or head to Konitsa. From Athens you can come to Ioannina via Patras, covering 445km., or via the National Road Athens - Lamia.
In the area near Anthrakitis, but also in the village there are numerous bridges. Stand bridges: The Koutsoliakou bridge is stone, double-arched and is located northeast of Anthrakitis. The bridge in Voudasia stone, arch, located in Voudasia, under Anthrakitis. The bridge in Fteri is located outside Anthrakitis. The bridge in Siopato is also in the village. The bridge to the Pit of Pasia is arched and at the entrance of Anthrakitis Zagoria. Also in the village you will find many fountains and cobbled streets. In the southeastern part of the village is the church of the Assumption, while to the north the building of the old school.

Near Anthrakitis are the villages Miliotades, Dipotamo, Manasseh, Dikorufo, etc. If you visit Anthrakitis you can see the other villages of East Zagori, or head to the Central and West Zagori. Near Anthrakitis are located Ioannina and little farther Metsovo.
