Asprageloi is a village of Zagorochoria of Ioannina. Is located in Epirus, at an altitude of 1000m. on the slopes of Mitsikeli. Until 1927 the village was called Dovra and then named Asprageloi from the monastery of Asprageloi that there is in the area. Asprageloi is a village that has made a big toll on the resistance of the people to the occupier. The Germans burned the village on July 15 of 1943, thus burning many houses of the village. So far survived only 12 stone houses. Today at Asprageli live about 150 inhabitants. Noteworthy is that the slopes of the village there is a cross for sailplane.
Asprageloi is 30 km. away from Ioannina. From Thessaloniki you can cover a distance of 260 km. through Egnatia Road and arrive in Ioannina, or head to Konitsa. From Athens you can come to Ioannina via Patras, covering 445km., or via the National Road Athens - Lamia.
In Asprageloi you can see the stone church of the Virgin Mary built in 1915 and the church of St. Nicholas that was built in 1776 and is one of the biggest churches in Zagori. In the village you can see the walls of the old town and the old monastery of Dovra dating from 1600. Around 1 km. before Asprageloi has erected the Monument of Zagorian Woman, which is a minimum tribute to Zagori women who helped as anyone our troops in the winter of 1940.

Your hospitality will be comfortable and your stay pleasant, while in the village you will be able to taste traditional dishes of Zagori and to enjoy your coffee.
Close to Asprageloi are other villages of Zagorochoria, such as Vitsa, Dilofo, Kipoi, Koukouli, Elati, Ano Pedina etc. Nearby is the city of Ioannina and if you want to travel a little further you can visit Metsovo and Konitsa.
